About James
James Gacek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Justice Studies at the University of Regina. Current research explores (1) the complex needs of older individuals in custody and upon release, including but not limited to challenges with aging, palliative care, medical assistance in death, and natural death; (2) the complex needs of members of the LGBTQ+ community in custody and society, such as access to services and treatment, and rights recognition and protections; and (3) the complex needs of Muslims in custody and upon release, such as spiritual and religious accommodations and faith-based services.
